Barclays Capital U.S. Aggregate Bond

This index, called Lehman Brothers Aggregate Bond Index before 2008, measures returns of U.S. investment grade bonds market, which includes investment grade U.S. Government bonds, high quality corporate bonds, mortgage pass-through securities, and asset-backed securities publicly offered for sale in the U.S. The index’s securities must have at least one year remaining to maturity; they must also be denominated in U.S. dollars and must be fixed rate, nonconvertible, and taxable. The index has 8,110 holdings with an average selling price of just under $1,100 (12/31/2012).

Barclays Aggregate Bond ETF seeks to match the index’s returns, before expenses. Portfolio maturity is: 7% (0–1 years), 33% (1–5 years), 17% (5–10 years), 5% (10–15 years), 3% (15–20 years), 6% (20–25 years), and 27% (25+ years). Less than 1% of holdings are rated below BBB-.
